Losing patience with Krejci?

Is it time to drop Bruins C David Krejci from fantasy rosters?

Is it time to drop Bruins C David Krejci from fantasy rosters?

To be held scoreless in a single game is one thing. To be held scoreless for the third straight game — as Bruins C David Krejci was Thursday night in the Bruins 6-1 home loss to the Ducks — is quite another.

To make matters worse, Krejci logged a -3 in the selfsame game. He also has zero power play points and zero penalty minutes on the season. And as our boy Matt Kalman points out in his Bruins blog for ESPNBoston, Krejci has also struggled on faceoffs. Against the Ducks on Thursday night, he only won three of 13 faceoffs (23 percent).

I am giving Krejci one more game. Specifically, I want to see how he fares tonight in a home game at 7 pm against a winless (and lossless) Islanders squad. I realize that No. 2 fantasy centers grow on trees; but I also view Krejci as a special talent, a 50-assist guy who was a whopping +37 last year. That kind of talent does not grow on trees.

Also, tonight Krejci will match up against Islanders centers Josh Bailey and Doug Weight. If he can’t put up points against those two, it may be (yet another) sign that he is less than 100 percent following offseason hip surgery.

In ESPN leagues, Krejci’s ownership percentage recently dropped 3.8 percent to 94.1. In Yahoo!, his ownership is down to 82 percent. It will be curious to see how low these percentages go if Krejci submits another dud.
